Übernatürlich is tabletop roleplaying game set in a fictional world inspired by late 19th-century Europe, primarily Germany. Much like our own history, it is a time of industrial revolution, with wonders such as the telegraph, railroad networks, and electricity rapidly transforming society at an unprecedented pace. Small settlements that once housed a few thousand residents have, for one reason or another, grown into sprawling metropolises. These cities are defined by towering factory stacks belching plumes of black smoke into the sky, while the whistles of trains carrying people and goods echo day and night. However, this era of progress comes with its shadows. Crime is on the rise, as gangs, syndicates, and criminal organisations flourish in ways never seen before. Law enforcement remains in its infancy, struggling to control the growing chaos.

The Imperial Hotel was once a shining beacon of Wolkendorf’s upper-class society. Its vast halls overflowed with music, opulent banquets, and delights imported from every corner of the Old Continent. Yet, as with so many things in Wolkendorf, its splendor ended in blood and gunfire. On the night of a grand wedding between two of the city’s oldest families, a disgruntled worker stormed into the ballroom and unleashed a storm of bullets and grenades upon the guests. By the time the newly-formed Wolkenguard arrived, Kristof Koletski had already claimed his final victim, himself, detonating his last grenade amid the bodies of two hundred fallen.
Nineteen years have passed since that night of horror. The Imperial Hotel now stands abandoned and rotting, a shelter for the homeless and a mausoleum haunted by echoes of the massacre. Its demolition has been scheduled for weeks, the city eager to erase this stain from its history. Yet, whispers suggest the old hotel may soon bear witness to an entirely new tragedy.
